TWISTED SISTER's 'We're Not Gonna Take It' Used In Commercial For Hotel Chain
September 3, 2012Mt. Vernon recently produced a 30-second spot for hotel chain Extended Stay America. The campaign was designed around TWISTED SISTER's 1984 signature tune "We're Not Gonna Take It" and was shot in April in Torrance, California. You can now watch the commercial at this location.
"We're Not Gonna Take It" was previously used in commercials for Claritin, Walmart, Stanley Steamer and Yaz birth control.
"We're Not Gonna Take It" and "Stay Hungry" were the biggest hit single and album, respectively, in TWISTED SISTER's career. The band's frontman, Dee Snider, said "We're Not Gonna Take It" is now part of America's cultural fabric.
"It's become like a folk song. It's a traditional song now. It has a simple message that's applicable to everything from sports teams to politics. I even once heard about the song being used by people protesting the development of commercial property," he said.
The song's lyrics say in part "Oh you're so condescending/Your gall is never ending/We don't want nothin'/Not a thing from you."
Snider recently slammed Vice Presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan for using "We're Not Gonna Take It" at a political rally.
